Not only the topic "Building Information Modeling" as such, but many of the common expressions and terms used in this context are often unclear in their meaning.
On the one hand, this is due to the fact that these terms are predominantly in English and on the other hand abbreviations (acronyms), which make it difficult to interpret and draw conclusions about the content.
For a functioning communication as a central core aspect of BIM and to avoid misunderstandings, it is essential that all participants know the correct meaning and use of the terms and, so to speak, "speak in one language".
On the following pages of the BIM Glossary you will find the most important expressions about BIM in their respective translations and content statements, in order to bring a little more transparency into the complex topic.
- General terms
- BIM-specific terms
- Data formats
- IFC-specific terms
- BIM dimension
